Welcome!

Several of us have now been in the US for quite a few years. We've learned about American culture and blended it in with our culture from home, but we've also managed to blend up English with our Hindi! The only time we ever speak Hindi now is when we don't want a stranger to know we're talking about him! Others of us are fond of India's rich culture but don't know any Hindi words beyond biryani, makhani, tikka and paneer!

This group is for all of us! Too many educated Delhi-ites themselves have lost the knack of speaking pure Hindi. Our conversations are a mix of English, Punjabi, Ebonics and the occasional Hindi word like 'Yaar' or 'Chai' ...bas.

So this group is to get all of us together in one room and practice our Hindi - as much as possible. Each meetup event will include an activity that will engage each of us in speaking. Through this amusing process we'll also get to make new friends and hold other group events together. There's no requirements - just an interest in learning the national language and culture of India. Aao, aur baatein karo hamare saath!
